The designing skills of a 13-year-old

…Not to offend any 13-year-olds out there. It’s just that I haven’t really done any major changes in my room during these past four years and I think it shows. When you walk into my room, you can see so many toys and crappy drawings that you probably wouldn’t think it was a room of a 17-year-old. Or maybe you would and I’m just paranoid and/or simply exaggerating my childish side. The thing is that when I was 13 I really hated the thought of being a rebellious teenager. I never got rid of my toys because that would have meant I was just like every other teenager who thinks they are too old to play. I never felt ashamed of shopping with my mom and dad because being ashamed of one’s parents seemed like an act of weakness, it would have meant I was like any other rebelling teenager. Ha ha, it still makes me laugh how I wanted to rebel against rebellion. x) Not exactly sweet memories but close enough. (I was writing this yesterday night so don’t be too surprised when I start blabbering about how late it is etc. And I’m sorry if you can’t quite follow my train of thought at some points here… ^^)

Okay, that was one long and off-topic-ish introduction. Let’s get on with the long awaited (it hasn’t been a whole month yet, has it?) introduction of my room. Behold a massive amount of photos ahead! (Click the photos to enlarge)

Huone1 Here’s the door. No, really, I shouldn’t be doing this in the middle of the night. My already bad skills at photography get just so much worse, not to mention the sentences like “Hello, this is my room” or “Here’s my door, it’s white and covered with posters”. (Get to the freakin’ point already, would you?) Hehe, so yeah, I do have the Twilight poster on my door. Didn’t really like the movie but adored the books and that poster doesn’t actually look half bad. There’s the door sign that says “Don’t disturb, I’m reading Harry Potter” on the upper left corner. I’m not a diehard fan of Harry Potters anymore but they used to be a huge part of my life at some point. I still think they are really good books though. Then there are the Princess Ai things I’ve got for free from different places. I kind of like Princess Ai as a character, and her style is fabulous! I’ve been dreaming of being a princess for pretty much my whole life, so that might explain the attraction. I’ve also had another impossible dream, this one of being a ballerina. That’s why I have the advertisement of The Sims 2 Free Time taped on the door. It says “Whether your dream is big or small, your sims can live it down”. Personally, I think it’s great.

The little pic on the lower right corner is pretty much a self-explanatory one, a Versailles pic I printed out. Then there are the two pics I’ve drawn a long time ago. I guess the eagle pic has been on my wall (or door) ever since I drew it on fifth grade or something because I used to be so proud of that. I actually drew two more of those for my friends, since they liked it so much. I really miss the days when I was still able to draw so freely. It doesn’t happen so much anymore. The postcard is one I bought from the Isle of Wight last summer. I guess I bought one too many, so I just kept that one for myself. And there’s a Bukowski poodle with a skirt on hanging on the door handle. I guess you’re actually supposed to put her on your handbag or back bag or something, but she seems to like it where she is right now. Next to the door you can see two paintings I got from my godparents when I was little and a small part of my Gackt wall scroll hanging on the stall bars.

Wow, it’s already 2:20 am! I’ve got to get some sleep now and continue this in the morning.

And now we skip back to present. I’m not too sure if I’ll be able to write things any more clearly than I did last night but I promise I’ll do my best.

Huone2 Here’s the other side of my door. The LotR and Nightwish posters are probably my favourite ones in my room, or at least they have been. I guess there aren’t really that many new things to say about those but I’ll type something anyway. First off, Legolas. ♥__♥ Do I need to say more? I’ve been a fan of LotR since I was about ten or something. Then Nightwish… It was incredibly painful to look at that poster for a couple of years when they kicked Tarja out of the band. The “old Nightwish” was the first band I became a fan of and it wasn’t a nice experience having my definition for perfection crumble apart. I used to keep my door open a lot so that I didn’t have to see the poster.

You ca see one of my bookshelves here, the one with actual books in it. There are lots of other things too, but mainly books. I should make a list of every unfinished book I’m supposed to read, reading would be a great pastime in summer. I haven’t been reading too many books lately, except for ones with vampires in them. Actually I did just finish reading Eclipse today. I got a feeling on Sunday night that I didn’t know it by heart, so I randomly decided to read it. Which is one of the reasons I have been staying up ‘til 3:30 am for these past two nights. Figures, I have a dozen of unfinished books in my shelf (most of which have been that way for at least three years) and I just have to start reading another one. I surprised myself by first of all finishing Eclipse and actually reading it from start to finish. I have read my favourite parts so many times that you can see the creases on the spine of the paperback version I own. ^^’ Oh, yes, I’m moving on now…

Beside the table, there are my laundry basket and a cardboard box with all kinds off fabrics and sewing projects on the top. I have some of my old drawings and many unfinished clothes in that box. Not very neat, but that’s the way I am.

Huone9 Moving on to my bed. :3 In my scale, this bed has a relatively small amount of random things on it. There are less than 15 pillows, I promise! My mom made me three blue pillows for decoration and then there are four pillows I’ve made myself. I went a little bit overboard with my self-made sheets. I made a vampire pillowcase and a sheet with two white hands, a rose and a quote from Interview with a Vampire/ Malice Mizer’s song Transylvania: “Drink from me and live forever”. I haven’t been using the sheet so much, since it might creep some people out. (Parents, possibly?) You can see my pigs there, too. I have a small collection covering my ‘bedside table´ but I think I’ll make a separate post about my different collections, since this one seems to be getting quite long even without something like that.

Huone4Here’s my wardrobe. ^^ I have all kinds of random stuff on top of separate closets, mostly things that I don’t use anymore. Since I am not allowed to put any posters on my walls with wallpaper on, I’ve covered my closets with them. I’ve also tried to put posters on my diagonal ceiling, but most of them don’t want to stay up there. Right now I’m slightly annoyed because I have put about everything on with tape and my tape doesn’t really like the warmer temperature and my posters want to come off every five seconds or so. My taping skills amaze me sometimes, it’s not the most aesthetic way to decorate a room.

You can’t actually see it too well here, but the side of the wardrobe is also covered in posters and pics. To posters of Tarja, one Nightwish poster, three postcards and three pics I’ve drawn, including a portrait of Tarja I drew when I was 12 and I’m still proud of. As for the posters and pictures on the closet doors, you can see four of my drawings/paintings from past years. Notice the self-portrait, which you can’t see all that well, made by a possibly 9-year-old me. x) Taitti might be able to recognize a couple of her drawings, including two birthday presents. There are the posters of Dita von Teese (just to fill the space, she has that certain kind old-school glamour in her, though) and Russian ballet (my inner ballerina-princess strikes again). My only poster of the “new Nightwish” hangs on the ceiling. I had to put it up there to prove myself that I still like Nightwish. I still haven’t been able to make myself like their new look or Anette’s voice. (BTW, if you want to read some rant about my thoughts to Nightwish, Tarja and their new albums, you can do so here. I won’t get started on the topic now or I won’t be able to finish this post today.)

Huone3 Where to start here… Well, the dollhouse is made by my dad. I took it in my room when it had to be moved to make way for our TV. I thought it would be useless to put away something my dad was so proud of. Then there is the mannequin for helping me to fit the clothes I make, with some pearl necklaces and my black cross. That thing isn’t half as useful as I thought it would be, since it isn’t small enough. On the right you can see my 3 meters long Lots-a-lots-a-leggggggs (lol) and a self-made magazine holder (not that I keep my magazines there or anything). On the left you can see the cute parasol I got from Sicily and my new hula hoop.

Huone5Here’s my dresser. Filled with random stuff. I keep things like jewellery and hair accessories on the drawers, as well as random school stuff and my painting and crafts supplies. On the top there are my two mirrors (I desperately need a full-length mirror in my room!), my Collector’s Edition Ballerina Barbie (my parents know just what to get me for Christmas ♥), my Swedish porcelaine doll and various other middle-sized things, most of which serve as jewellery holders right now. On the wall is my collection of masks. I’ve got most of them from my grandmother who travels a lot, but there are a few I’ve brought as souvenirs from Venice myself. One mask is still waiting for my dad to put it up on the wall. And what is that red “quill pen” doing there? o.O Overall, this corner is probably one of my favourite parts in the room. It’s just that I can’t keep it in order all that well…

Huone6 My other bookshelf, this one is for my manga collection and all kinds of small and useless items I love. I’ll have to get you a more precise description in my upcoming collection post. My mom’s old lion has fallen asleep in front of the shelf. :3

Huone10 My computer! This is what my table looks like when it’s not messy. I got a big table so I would have room for drawing and doing homework and stuff, but the truth is I can’t keep it organized enough. –___-'' I seem to be running out of words here… I guess I have been typing quite much already. Well, please notice the blue teddy bear I got as a birthday present from Taitti. He’s guarding my pile of random paper and our tickets to D’espairsRay’s concert. Then I guess my tablet would be worth mentioning. I got my Wacom Intuos3 as a birthday present, if I remember right. It might as well have been a Christmas present. Anyway, my dad is the best for getting it for me. I haven’t been drawing with it enough though. I need inspiration! Other than my computer, my table seems to be full of random things that just are there and collect dust.

So that was my room in a nutshell. I seem to be writing a novel here, this post is so huge! I guess I’m one of those who update only when they’ve got something to post. I’ll post again tonight to give you an update about my life. I’m sorry this is so long! Hope you enjoyed it at least a little, even with the crappy photos and too much blabbering. If you want to know something more, don’t hesitate to ask!

A video! (If this works…)

I’ll get to the proper update tomorrow, I promise! (Or later today, actually..) This is just a quickie, solely because I tested teasing my hair a bit to get that Hizaki/hime-kind-of volume. And to show off my nails (which you probably won’t be able to see too well on the video, but anyway).

I’m kind og nervous, since I’ve never posted a video of me on the Internet. All kinds of cameras make me nervous as it is and here I had to speak English, which was both scary and exciting. Well, let’s get to the video before I’ll change my mind.

^^'' Here we go. I'm just stating facts there. Sorry about everything. -___-'' That last part should be something like "I'll end this message here as my English is failing me." x) As you can see, I kind of forgot to give you a better view of my hair and then realized the mistake on the last minute. Fail. And I wonder if I always talk like that... My mouth looks a bit weird. o__O I was chewing gum just before recording this so maybe that has something to do with it. ...Or maybe I'm just weird like that. :P

Well, the very belated room post is coming, I promise! I'll get my camera and start taking pics of my room right after breakfast. Until then, my friends.

Hizaki cosplay, here I come!

Hehe, this is just a quick update before the promised post about my room. ^^ I'm not too sure if I should be writing at all right now, since my brain and heart and soul are going completely overload. I’ve been feeding myself way too much shoujo manga without leaving my house, so I’ll probably go crazy real soon… It’s no good when I’m in this kind of mood, I get WAY too excited over every little thing…

Right now I’m excited over Versailles. It started with Kamijo posting two hilarious photos in his blog and me realising sometime afterwards that the website header said their major debut single is going to be released on June 24th! I went all *WHEE~!!!* of course. ^^ Then I visited their myspace site and noticed that they had changed the band member pics there. And then I saw the new pic of Hizaki, which leads us to the real subject of this post.

Here’s the new pic of Hizaki. *____* Whee~ again! My mission to get a Hizaki look just got a bit easier. Now, instead of trying to go for this Hizaki hair with straight bangs I could never pull off, I can now feel happy that I have side-swept bangs. ^___^ My bangs are swept the other way, though, and I don’t have those longer locks of hair on the sides of my face but other than that, all I have to do is to practise my curling skills. Maybe I should do a Hizaki cosplay for Animecon? Hmm… That would definitely be a handful. And I would have to go to a nose surgery first. ;;___;;

Japanese men are the most beautiful. ♥__♥

06/14 A few more words: See this photo. Aww, so cool! ♥ But I guess I’m really not going to do a Hizaki cosplay… Sure I’d like to have a dress like that, but for Animecon? Erm… I’m certain I wouldn’t fit in… I’d break something or the dress would be ruined in two seconds with everyone stepping on the hem or something. But it would be so much fun to make! ;;___;; I bet Kamijo would be mad if he found out that he isn’t the first person who draws people’s attention in that photo. :P And I kinda like Yuki’s outfit. Jasmine You is Jasmine You. But when it comes to Teru… I wish he would find a pair of longer pants. x)

I seriously want to learn to do my hair. Just look at Hizaki - he looks so perfect. ♥__♥ (Gah, I can’t believe I almost wrote ‘she’ just now.)

New clothes + The Sims 3

Hello~! I was going to update on Monday but didn’t quite get to it, as always. ^^''

I just heard on the radio that it’s very boring if people always keep apologizing for not updating their blogs and that it would be better if they just got to the point right away. I started to feel kind of bad for always starting my posts with 'so sorry I haven’t updated…' and so forth. I guess I still did it again… So now I’m sorry for updating so irregularly AND for always apologizing for that. ^^ And I’m sorry for rambling too much here.

I burned my skin (mainly arms) pretty nicely last Sunday and it got worse on Monday when I went shopping by bike. ^____^'' Whoopsie. Well, it doesn’t matter anymore since it’s about freezing cold outside right now and there’s no hope of seeing the sun 'til next Thursday or so. We had our three days of summer, now on with downpour and +8°C. .__.

BUT! The good news is that I bought some new clothes. (And the downside of that is that I spent almost all of this month’s allowance on the first day of the month…) Now, without further ado, on with the pics!

Shoppailua6

Here’s a (crappy) photo of me wearing my new dress. It’s a very comfy piece I grew fond of right away. My mom said it’s not something you’d expect to see in summer when everyone’s wearing all those pastel colours or bright turquoises and oranges and yellows but it’s definitely very 'me', don’t you think? It has the empire-styled waistline I’m not too fond of and it’s also slightly baggy, but I love it. Bought from Seppälä, a shop that usually doesn’t fail me. I find it easy to fit Seppälä’s clothes to my so-called style, they have these kind of formal-looking clothes all over the year (straight black pants and blazers for example) so I usually don’t have any trouble finding some nice clothes there. The only downside is that it’s sometimes hard to find size 32 or XS and I know by now that their size 34 or S clothes are most of the time too big for me. And it doesn’t help that I like quite tight-fitting shirts. (Waist fetish or what? xP) Blah blah blah…

This very basic black hoodie…

…and these are also from Seppälä. ^^

I needed some new summer shoes so I bought these. Aren’t they just cute? <3__<3 I personally love 'em. I always gotta have at least some kind of heels, even if they are low ones. These are very comfy too! I had trouble choosing between two pairs of shoes and had finally ended up with these when a salesgirl told me I would get another pair for 50% discount if I bought two pairs. So I ended up buying these too:

Shoppailua3

*___* These are probably the highest heels I own. And they are so cute! (I think my brain has kicked into a KAWAII~!!! *squeal* mode just now… >.<'') So at the end of the day I was a very happy but poor girl. Now all I need is warm weather so I can start wearing these!

I have one more photo for you before I go.

Shoppailua4

Hehe, here’s how I put my hair today. I had to take a pic since it looked so funny. Reminds me of Minnie Mouse. My hair is actually slightly dirty but luckily it doesn’t show in the photo. ^^

I think I’ll be making a post about my room sometime soon. I’ll just have to clean up a little and then try to not mess up anything before I get some photos taken. I also have a couple of posters hanging around waiting for me to hang them on walls or ceiling. The only problem is that I am quite occupied right now with The Sims 3 I bought on Thursday. We’ll see how long I’ll stay glued to my chair staring at the comp screen. The Sims = possibly my hugest (fail) addiction ever.
