…Not to offend any 13-year-olds out there. It’s just that I haven’t really done any major changes in my room during these past four years and I think it shows. When you walk into my room, you can see so many toys and crappy drawings that you probably wouldn’t think it was a room of a 17-year-old. Or maybe you would and I’m just paranoid and/or simply exaggerating my childish side. The thing is that when I was 13 I really hated the thought of being a rebellious teenager. I never got rid of my toys because that would have meant I was just like every other teenager who thinks they are too old to play. I never felt ashamed of shopping with my mom and dad because being ashamed of one’s parents seemed like an act of weakness, it would have meant I was like any other rebelling teenager. Ha ha, it still makes me laugh how I wanted to rebel against rebellion. x) Not exactly sweet memories but close enough. (I was writing this yesterday night so don’t be too surprised when I start blabbering about how late it is etc. And I’m sorry if you can’t quite follow my train of thought at some points here… ^^)
Okay, that was one long and off-topic-ish introduction. Let’s get on with the long awaited (it hasn’t been a whole month yet, has it?) introduction of my room. Behold a massive amount of photos ahead! (Click the photos to enlarge)
Here’s the door. No, really, I shouldn’t be doing this in the middle of the night. My already bad skills at photography get just so much worse, not to mention the sentences like “Hello, this is my room” or “Here’s my door, it’s white and covered with posters”. (Get to the freakin’ point already, would you?) Hehe, so yeah, I do have the Twilight poster on my door. Didn’t really like the movie but adored the books and that poster doesn’t actually look half bad. There’s the door sign that says “Don’t disturb, I’m reading Harry Potter” on the upper left corner. I’m not a diehard fan of Harry Potters anymore but they used to be a huge part of my life at some point. I still think they are really good books though. Then there are the Princess Ai things I’ve got for free from different places. I kind of like Princess Ai as a character, and her style is fabulous! I’ve been dreaming of being a princess for pretty much my whole life, so that might explain the attraction. I’ve also had another impossible dream, this one of being a ballerina. That’s why I have the advertisement of The Sims 2 Free Time taped on the door. It says “Whether your dream is big or small, your sims can live it down”. Personally, I think it’s great.
The little pic on the lower right corner is pretty much a self-explanatory one, a Versailles pic I printed out. Then there are the two pics I’ve drawn a long time ago. I guess the eagle pic has been on my wall (or door) ever since I drew it on fifth grade or something because I used to be so proud of that. I actually drew two more of those for my friends, since they liked it so much. I really miss the days when I was still able to draw so freely. It doesn’t happen so much anymore. The postcard is one I bought from the Isle of Wight last summer. I guess I bought one too many, so I just kept that one for myself. And there’s a Bukowski poodle with a skirt on hanging on the door handle. I guess you’re actually supposed to put her on your handbag or back bag or something, but she seems to like it where she is right now. Next to the door you can see two paintings I got from my godparents when I was little and a small part of my Gackt wall scroll hanging on the stall bars.
Wow, it’s already 2:20 am! I’ve got to get some sleep now and continue this in the morning.
And now we skip back to present. I’m not too sure if I’ll be able to write things any more clearly than I did last night but I promise I’ll do my best.
Here’s the other side of my door. The LotR and Nightwish posters are probably my favourite ones in my room, or at least they have been. I guess there aren’t really that many new things to say about those but I’ll type something anyway. First off, Legolas. ♥__♥ Do I need to say more? I’ve been a fan of LotR since I was about ten or something. Then Nightwish… It was incredibly painful to look at that poster for a couple of years when they kicked Tarja out of the band. The “old Nightwish” was the first band I became a fan of and it wasn’t a nice experience having my definition for perfection crumble apart. I used to keep my door open a lot so that I didn’t have to see the poster.
You ca see one of my bookshelves here, the one with actual books in it. There are lots of other things too, but mainly books. I should make a list of every unfinished book I’m supposed to read, reading would be a great pastime in summer. I haven’t been reading too many books lately, except for ones with vampires in them. Actually I did just finish reading Eclipse today. I got a feeling on Sunday night that I didn’t know it by heart, so I randomly decided to read it. Which is one of the reasons I have been staying up ‘til 3:30 am for these past two nights. Figures, I have a dozen of unfinished books in my shelf (most of which have been that way for at least three years) and I just have to start reading another one. I surprised myself by first of all finishing Eclipse and actually reading it from start to finish. I have read my favourite parts so many times that you can see the creases on the spine of the paperback version I own. ^^’ Oh, yes, I’m moving on now…
Beside the table, there are my laundry basket and a cardboard box with all kinds off fabrics and sewing projects on the top. I have some of my old drawings and many unfinished clothes in that box. Not very neat, but that’s the way I am.
Moving on to my bed. :3 In my scale, this bed has a relatively small amount of random things on it. There are less than 15 pillows, I promise! My mom made me three blue pillows for decoration and then there are four pillows I’ve made myself. I went a little bit overboard with my self-made sheets. I made a vampire pillowcase and a sheet with two white hands, a rose and a quote from Interview with a Vampire/ Malice Mizer’s song Transylvania: “Drink from me and live forever”. I haven’t been using the sheet so much, since it might creep some people out. (Parents, possibly?) You can see my pigs there, too. I have a small collection covering my ‘bedside table´ but I think I’ll make a separate post about my different collections, since this one seems to be getting quite long even without something like that.
Here’s my wardrobe. ^^ I have all kinds of random stuff on top of separate closets, mostly things that I don’t use anymore. Since I am not allowed to put any posters on my walls with wallpaper on, I’ve covered my closets with them. I’ve also tried to put posters on my diagonal ceiling, but most of them don’t want to stay up there. Right now I’m slightly annoyed because I have put about everything on with tape and my tape doesn’t really like the warmer temperature and my posters want to come off every five seconds or so. My taping skills amaze me sometimes, it’s not the most aesthetic way to decorate a room.
You can’t actually see it too well here, but the side of the wardrobe is also covered in posters and pics. To posters of Tarja, one Nightwish poster, three postcards and three pics I’ve drawn, including a portrait of Tarja I drew when I was 12 and I’m still proud of. As for the posters and pictures on the closet doors, you can see four of my drawings/paintings from past years. Notice the self-portrait, which you can’t see all that well, made by a possibly 9-year-old me. x) Taitti might be able to recognize a couple of her drawings, including two birthday presents. There are the posters of Dita von Teese (just to fill the space, she has that certain kind old-school glamour in her, though) and Russian ballet (my inner ballerina-princess strikes again). My only poster of the “new Nightwish” hangs on the ceiling. I had to put it up there to prove myself that I still like Nightwish. I still haven’t been able to make myself like their new look or Anette’s voice. (BTW, if you want to read some rant about my thoughts to Nightwish, Tarja and their new albums, you can do so here. I won’t get started on the topic now or I won’t be able to finish this post today.)
Where to start here… Well, the dollhouse is made by my dad. I took it in my room when it had to be moved to make way for our TV. I thought it would be useless to put away something my dad was so proud of. Then there is the mannequin for helping me to fit the clothes I make, with some pearl necklaces and my black cross. That thing isn’t half as useful as I thought it would be, since it isn’t small enough. On the right you can see my 3 meters long Lots-a-lots-a-leggggggs (lol) and a self-made magazine holder (not that I keep my magazines there or anything). On the left you can see the cute parasol I got from Sicily and my new hula hoop.
Here’s my dresser. Filled with random stuff. I keep things like jewellery and hair accessories on the drawers, as well as random school stuff and my painting and crafts supplies. On the top there are my two mirrors (I desperately need a full-length mirror in my room!), my Collector’s Edition Ballerina Barbie (my parents know just what to get me for Christmas ♥), my Swedish porcelaine doll and various other middle-sized things, most of which serve as jewellery holders right now. On the wall is my collection of masks. I’ve got most of them from my grandmother who travels a lot, but there are a few I’ve brought as souvenirs from Venice myself. One mask is still waiting for my dad to put it up on the wall. And what is that red “quill pen” doing there? o.O Overall, this corner is probably one of my favourite parts in the room. It’s just that I can’t keep it in order all that well…
My other bookshelf, this one is for my manga collection and all kinds of small and useless items I love. I’ll have to get you a more precise description in my upcoming collection post. My mom’s old lion has fallen asleep in front of the shelf. :3
My computer! This is what my table looks like when it’s not messy. I got a big table so I would have room for drawing and doing homework and stuff, but the truth is I can’t keep it organized enough. –___-'' I seem to be running out of words here… I guess I have been typing quite much already. Well, please notice the blue teddy bear I got as a birthday present from Taitti. He’s guarding my pile of random paper and our tickets to D’espairsRay’s concert. Then I guess my tablet would be worth mentioning. I got my Wacom Intuos3 as a birthday present, if I remember right. It might as well have been a Christmas present. Anyway, my dad is the best for getting it for me. I haven’t been drawing with it enough though. I need inspiration! Other than my computer, my table seems to be full of random things that just are there and collect dust.
So that was my room in a nutshell. I seem to be writing a novel here, this post is so huge! I guess I’m one of those who update only when they’ve got something to post. I’ll post again tonight to give you an update about my life. I’m sorry this is so long! Hope you enjoyed it at least a little, even with the crappy photos and too much blabbering. If you want to know something more, don’t hesitate to ask!
